Estimator

Our client is a building contractor, specialising in healthcare, commercial, and education projects valued from £50,000 to £6,500,000, delivered via Design & Build or pre-designed methods. They also specialise in the medical imaging sector, collaborating with public and private healthcare organisations and equipment providers across the UK.

Due to company growth, our client is looking to bring an experienced Estimator in to join their team.

The ideal candidate will support the Pre-Construction team in preparing competitive tender submissions for the Construction work stream, utilising a mix of trade package subcontract enquiries and first-principles pricing methods.

Position Overview

  • Review tender documentation to determine subcontract trade package and material needs.
  • Compile and issue trade package subcontract enquiries to suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Assess and align received subcontract tenders with project requirements.
  • Identify and document tender qualifications and exclusions.
  • Prepare tender cost documents using in-house templates.
  • Address pricing gaps through first-principle calculations for labour, plant, and materials.
  • Develop tender stage programmes and schedules.
  • Perform take-offs for general works (e.g., floor finishes, partitions, ceilings).
  • Price project preliminaries, accounting for programme durations and requirements (e.g., welfare, waste, protection).

Position Requirements

  • 3-5 Years Estimating experience in a Main Contracting capacity in the healthcare, commercial or education sectors.
  • Excellent IT skills.
  • Successful Enhanced DBS (This will be obtained by the Company as part of the onboarding process).
  • Understanding of JCT / NEC Forms of Contract (Advantageous but not essential).
  • SMM7 and/or NRM experience (Advantageous but not essential).
  • Degree Qualified / Construction related qualification (Advantageous but not essential).
