Job Title: Quantity Surveyor (Post-Graduate Experience)

Location: West Yorkshire

Salary: £35,000 - £50,000 (DOE) + Car Allowance

Reports To: Commercial Manager

Company Overview:

A growing SME main contractor based in West Yorkshire, specializing in fit-outs, refurbishments, and some new build projects. With a dynamic and collaborative team, they are known for delivering high-quality projects to a diverse range of clients. Due to ongoing growth and exciting upcoming projects, they are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Quantity Surveyor with 2-3 years of post-graduate experience to join their team.

Role Overview:

This is a fantastic opportunity for a young Quantity Surveyor to gain hands-on experience working on high-value projects. You will be directly involved in managing the financial aspects of fit-out, refurbishment, and some new build projects, with two £2M projects starting immediately, providing you with excellent exposure. You'll report into the Commercial Manager and be part of a small but growing team, including another QS, an estimator, and a supportive commercial team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Cost Management: Assist in managing the cost control, budgeting, and financial reporting for a variety of fit-out, refurbishment, and new build projects.

Subcontractor and Supplier Management: Support in the procurement process, including managing subcontractor quotes, orders, and payments.

Tendering and Estimating Support: Participate in the tendering process for smaller fit-out projects, with a focus on fast-paced, high-efficiency turnarounds.

Site Visits and Measurements: Attend site visits to measure and assess the progress of projects, ensuring that the work is in line with cost expectations.

Client and Design Team Liaison: Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and design teams to ensure smooth project delivery, ensuring costs and timelines are kept on track.

Reporting: Assist with producing and reviewing cost reports, cash flow forecasts, and monthly commercial reporting to the Commercial Manager.

Collaboration: Work within a tight-knit team, reporting into the Commercial Manager and collaborating with another QS and an Estimator, with support throughout your development.

Key Requirements:

2-3 years post-graduate experience as a Quantity Surveyor, ideally within fit-out, refurbishment, or construction sectors.

Strong knowledge of cost management, budgeting, and procurement processes.

Experience in managing subcontractors and suppliers, particularly in fit-out or refurbishment projects, is a plus.

Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

Good communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, contractors, and design teams.

A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field.

Ambitious and eager to develop and grow within the company, with a willingness to take on increasing responsibilities as the company expands.

Salary: £35,000 - £50,000, depending on experience.
