A Preconstruction Design Manager position has been created within a successful main contractor which specialises in RC frame builds within the residential, hotel, and student accommodation sectors. This will be a high profile role both internally and externally and will work across multiple bids and PCSAs in an office based role.

Description

Working out of the office, this is a multi-project role and will have these key responsibilities:

  • Oversee the preconstruction phase of projects, ensuring designs meet client specifications and regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to create cost-effective and efficient designs
  • Manage the project design budget and timeline, ensuring resources are allocated effectively
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement risk management strategies in line with new BSA regulations
  • Lead project meetings and provide regular updates to senior management on project progress.
  • Ensure all projects adhere to company standards and industry regulations.
  • Facilitate communication between all project stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met.
  • Implement and maintain quality control procedures throughout the design and construction process.

Profile

A successful Preconstruction Design Manager should have:

  • A degree in construction management, architecture, engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Design Manager leading high rise schemes through construction
  • A background in managing the preconstruction phase of large-scale projects (2 stage tenders and PCSAs)
  • An excellent understanding of construction methodologies and regulations (particularly residential, student accommodation, and hotels)
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet project deadlines.
