As a Specialist Technical Recruiter for the Lift Industry, we are working with a long-term client to support them in searching for ex-Military Engineers seeking a civilian engineering full-time position. 

My client is a specialist in providing maintenance and repair services to the industrial lift industry across the South of England, currently recruiting for an ambitious, enthusiastic individual with a background and training in engineering within the Armed Forces, looking for either their first or a return to engineering in a civilian capacity, covering the area of Hertfordshire and North London.  

The position will involve the following duties;

  • Servicing and maintenance of industrial lift equipment, both hydraulic and traction. 
  • Completing training courses assigned by the business, including taking part in a specific industry-related training programme, along with an NVQ 3 in Lift Servicing & Repair and EOR/202 Basic Lift Safety.
  • Working alongside the company’s Technician to gain competency and familiarity with various manufacturers’ panels.
  • Training to become a fully competent Lift Engineer, and eventually taking part in the company’s standby out-of-hours rota, handling emergency breakdowns andtrapped passenger eventualities. 

To be considered for this oppportunity, you will be required to have; 

  • Ideally an NVQ 2 in Engineering Maintenance (or higher), however part-qualified or unqualified will be considered. 
  • A background in working within the British Armed Forces, in an engineering capacity.
  • A full UK Driving License. 
  • A willingness to take part in training and dedicate time to learning and developing a civilian career within the Lift Industry. 

This position is offering the following remuneration package;

  • A basic starting salary of £30,000pa.
  • Overtime paid at enhanced rates.
  • Standby payments and call-out fees after training courses are completed.
  • Training paid for at the expense of the employer.
  • A company van with fuel card.
  • All uniform, PPE and tooling will be provided.

The basic starting salary for this role will be £30,000pa. This will increase during training, with a significant pay increase at the end of your NVQ 3 completion. Interviews will be held remotely for the first stage, and second stage will be held at the company's Head Office in Farnborough. You will need to be able to get yourself to the office location for your interview, and first day, if successful.
