Sewing Machinist

Our client based in Hitchin, are recruiting for a permanent, full time, Sewing Machinist.

The role is a permanent position.

Any sewing experience could be considered.

£26k plus Salary

Working 40 Hours per week , 8am to 4.45pm Mon to Thurs, 8am to 3.30pm Fri.

Sewing Machinist Responsibilities

  • Read Factory Work Order to include "special instructions" and produce aprons according to the specifications.
  • Ensure orders are complete prior to sending the product to the next workstation.
  • Improve work process efficiencies by communicating ideas and or procedures in sewing.
  • Ensure that aprons being sewn follow a specific sewing instruction.
  • Ensure work is being completed in correct priority order to Daily work schedule.
  • Clarify with Production Supervisor any questions regarding work orders.
  • Maintain a safe, clean work area, to include blowing down the machine and making minor preventative maintenance of machines (e.g., keeping oil levels full, replacing old needles with new, etc.)
  • Additional job duties as may be assigned from time to time by management.

Sewing Machinist Skills

  • Sewing knowledge and knowledge of operation of sewing machines.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prioritise and handle multiple tasks.
  • Ability to independently follow through all assignments to completion.
  • Have a thorough knowledge of the apron-making process, apron styles, products, and customers.
  • Detailed knowledge of company quality policies including work instructions and procedures

Qualifications and Experience

  • At least 2 years of commercial/manufacturing sewing experience preferred but not essential.
