We are looking for a committed and caring Pastoral Support Worker to join our team on a permanent, full-time basis. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people, helping them overcome barriers to learning and achieve positive outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop trusting relationships with students, providing guidance and emotional support.
- Deliver one-to-one and group-based interventions to address personal, social, and emotional challenges.
- Collaborate with teaching staff, families, and external agencies to create and implement tailored support plans for students.
- Support students in managing their behavior, fostering a sense of responsibility and self-regulation through restorative approaches.
- Monitor and assess the progress of students, ensuring they are engaged and making positive strides in their education and personal development.
- Act as a point of contact for families/carers, maintaining regular communication and providing updates on students' wellbeing and progress.
- Promote life skills, resilience, and independence in preparation for further education, training, or employment.
- Contribute to the school's ethos and values, creating an inclusive and supportive environment where every student can thrive.
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience working with young people, preferably within an alternative provision, educational, or youth work setting.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build rapport with students, staff, and families.
- A compassionate and empathetic approach, with the resilience to manage challenging situations calmly and effectively.
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and a commitment to promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and use initiative when working independently.
- A relevant qualification in education, youth work, social work, or a related field is desirable but not essential.
