Expected hours:Monday to Friday 38.75 hours/week.

Shifts:Lates 14:00 to 22:15 or nights 22:00 to 06:15

Purpose of the Role

To play a key role within the manufacture of our sustainable fabrics. The role of a Multi-skilled Operative is crucial for ensuring that our fabric pieces are accurately and efficiently prepared for assembly, maintaining quality standards, and contributing to the overall beauty of our products.

Key Tasks and Accountabilities:

  • The safe and efficient operation of a range of different machinery used in the piece dying process. Including but not limited to: Cutting tables, Sewing machines, Tumbler, Dry cleaner, Milling and scouring, Tenter, Detwist machine, Range of dye vessels, Range of finishing equipment
  • Operate the electronic dye dispenser and programs for the dyeing equipment.
  • Safe storage and handling of chemicals and dyes.
  • Inspecting fabric quality, marking and escalating any defects.
  • Following SSOW (safe system of work) and Procedures on Worksheets for different fabric qualities.
  • Filling in batch cards, logsheets and any associated paperwork or records accurately
  • Reporting any faults or inconsistencies to team leader
  • Monitoring production parameters and output quality
  • Escalation of non-standard conditions and process defects
  • Following the schedule sequence by locating and identifying the correct pieces of fabric in WIP
  • Operator maintenance and cleaning regimes to keep the machine in a clean and safe condition.
  • Adhering to health and safety policies and safe systems of work. Actively participate in behavioural safety campaigns and opportunity to be a health and safety representative
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects.
  • Support and train colleagues.
  • Willing and able to be flexible to assist in general duties in the factory (multiskilling)
  • Ability to work at either the Holmfirth or Meltham sites.

Education / Skills / Knowledge / Experience

  • Proficiency with numeracy and English
  • Good hand eye co-ordination
  • Be able to follow instructions.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative.
  • Good organisation skills
  • Experience of handling 25kg loads using best practice manual handling techniques and appropriate lifting aids such as multi mover, pallet trucks and Combi-lifts
  • Experience working in a busy factory environment meeting strict deadlines and quality standards.
  • Knowledge and experience of COSHH
  • FLT license desirable
  • 1staider desirable
