About the Project

The Box Encapsulation Plant plays a pivotal role in Sellafield's 100-year clean-up initiative. Designed to safely encapsulate nuclear waste in concrete, the plant addresses waste from key legacy storage facilities, including the Magnox Swarf Storage Silo, the First Generation Magnox Storage Pond, the Pile Fuel Storage Pond, and the Pile Fuel Cladding Silo. Your work will contribute to a project critical to the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority's mission.

Role: Technical Author

As a Technical Author, you will ensure the creation and delivery of professional, compliant, and high-quality Operation and Maintenance (O&M) documentation. Reporting directly to the Commissioning Support Manager, you will play a vital role in delivering accurate and consistent documentation within defined time frames.

Duration: 12 months

Rate: £34-39/hour

Shifts: Monday - Friday

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce a comprehensive suite of O&M documents (Volume B & D).
  • Interrogate engineering/design/vendor information to ensure accurate document collation.
  • Attend progress meetings and provide weekly updates on deliverables.
  • Review Commissioning Test Documents to verify compliance requirements.
  • Maintain the highest safety standards and champion the Zero Harm culture.
  • Ensure consistency and quality across all documentation.
  • Support the development of a collaborative and efficient project culture.
Essential Qualifications & Skills
  • Nuclear background with relevant technical expertise.
  • Minimum HNC qualification in an appropriate discipline.
  • Proven experience as a Technical Author in engineering projects.
  • IOSH Working/Managing Safely certification is essential.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and a commitment to excellence.
