Conquip Engineering Group is seeking an experienced and dedicated HR Administrator to join our nationally recognised team in Alton, Hampshire. This pivotal role supports various aspects of HR, from onboarding and employee relations to data administration and ensuring full HR compliance across the group. This key position operates within the heart of our people operations, requiring a strong attention to detail, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to communicate & build relationships both effectively and meaningfully with team members across the group.

Main Purpose of the Role

The main purpose of this role is to provide comprehensive administrative support to the Head of HR & Payroll. This includes managing internal HR relationships and maintaining HR databases.

Role & Responsibilities
  • Create, maintain, and update HR documents and employee records on our Staffology HR System
  • Monitor and respond to queries received via the HR inbox
  • Support employee relations and assist the Head of HR with HR-related and employee queries
  • Input and update data into internal HR databases
  • Complete tasks delegated by the Head of HR
  • Assist the Head of HR & Payroll with payroll-related matters and tasks
  • Provide advice on general HR-related queries and policies to Line Managers and Employees, escalating complex issues to the Head of HR
  • Collect relevant employee information and maintain records of employee documents
  • Record and update holidays, sickness, and absences
  • Write new HR procedures and update job descriptions
  • Develop and maintain administrative systems and procedures to support HR projects
  • Coordinate logistics for new hire inductions and administer the onboarding process
  • Administer the probation process
  • Assist in formal meetings such as employee investigations, disciplinaries, and grievances
  • Respond to reference requests for former employees
  • Welcome visitors and candidates for interviews
  • Administer internal leavers and ensure proper procedures are followed
  • Participate in organising and planning employee events
  • Assist in onboarding new employees by obtaining right to work verification, supporting with visa sponsorship, and obtaining references
  • Assist with appraisals administration
  • Support with occupational health referrals
  • Ensure compliance with Data Protection Act and GDPR
  • Assist with other work, events, and projects as needed
  • Perform any other duties that may be reasonably required
Basic Skills Required
  • Proven experience in HR administration and a strong understanding of HR processes
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, with a willingness to learn company-specific software
  • Excellent organisation and maintenance of paperless/electronic filing systems
Hours & Location
  • Standard Office Hours: 8:00am - 5:00pm, Monday to Friday
  • Office-based
  • Driving and own vehicle required
