Brand new role for a Senior Contracts Advisor!
- Senior Contracts Advisor
- Location: First 6 months based in Surrey (Hybrid on site 3 days a week) and then based in the North Wales on site for the following 18 months 5 days a week
- Hours 37.5 hours a week
- Day rate working outside IR35
- Experience of UK projects within the energy/oil and gas sector would be desirable.

Role Overview:
The Contract Advisor will be responsible for managing the Contract Management activities for the London hub, specifically for a new carbon capture project based in North Wales. This role requires an experienced professional to ensure the effective handling of various contracts, mitigate risks, and provide strategic support to multiple internal functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contract Drafting & Review:
Review, qualify, and/or draft a variety of contracts, including but not limited to engineering, procurement, construction (EPC), service contracts, confidentiality agreements, non-disclosure agreements, restrictive use agreements, partnership/consortium/joint venture/alliance agreements, and subcontract agreements. - Coordination & Support:
Manage workload in coordination with Tendering/Commercial, Project Management, and Procurement functions, ensuring input from other functions, including Insurance, Tax, and Finance. - Contract Summaries:
Prepare Contract Summaries specific to tenders and projects, outlining key details and risks. - Risk Management & Advisory:
Advise Company and Corporate Management on contractual risks, identifying mitigation actions and solutions. - Negotiation & Meetings:
Participate in internal and external meetings with clients, partners, and subcontractors. Take notes, prepare summaries, and draft Minutes of Meetings. Negotiate contractual terms with counterparties in line with company risk policies. - Contract Management & Claims Support:
Support the Project Management teams with contract management strategies, claims determination, evaluation of variation order requests, and the drafting of key correspondence to clients, subcontractors, and third parties. - Subcontract Review & Support:
Assist the Procurement function in the review and finalization of subcontracts and purchase orders. - Legal Instrument Drafting:
Draft and manage all related legal instruments and correspondence. - Legal Research:
Conduct legal research relevant to the company’s market space, including case law and industry regulations. - Industry Standards:
Demonstrate knowledge of industry-standard contracts such as FIDIC, LOGIC, BIMCO, IOCs, etc. - Problem Resolution:
Assist in resolving legal and contractual matters, coordinating with relevant Corporate functions as needed. - Reporting:
Regularly report to Company and Corporate Management on the Contract Management activities and progress.
Essential Skills & Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge and experience of English Law.
- Proven experience in reviewing and advising on tendering contracts and administering project contracts.
- Effective negotiation skills and extensive experience in negotiating and executing offshore construction contracts.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to listen, influence, and convey information effectively.
- Strong commercial awareness and understanding of business risks.
- Ability to manage time effectively and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
