The Role of a GP Receptionist
Our client is looking to recruit a receptionist with an excellent telephone manner who is friendly and welcoming. The successful Receptionist will have the ability to work productively in a busy reception area. Previous experience with a GP surgery/Medical Centre/Health Centre and use of EMIS system is advantageous but not essential.
Main duties of the GP Receptionist will include:
- Answer incoming telephone calls
- Greet and direct incoming visitors/patients in a professional manner
- Book appointments and deal with general medical queries
- Deal with angry or upset people and diffuse these situations confidently
- Enter accurate personal information onto a database.
- Assisting with other ad hoc administrative duties
The Candidate
The ideal GP Receptionist will have the following skills and attributes:
- Good organisational skills
- Be able to follow procedures accurately
- Excellent telephone manner and good listening skills
- Ability to work productively in a busy environment
- Excellent communication skills
- The ability to adapt and communicate with a variety of people
- Must be able to show empathy and be resilient when required in certain situations
