Job Title: Quantity Surveyor
Division/Team: Contracting
Reports to: Managing Director
Salary: 60,000 - 75,000
Job Summary
Responsible for the commercial and contractual management of projects from inception to final account. The Quantity Surveyor collaborates with project teams and stakeholders to build strong client and supply chain relationships, ensuring successful commercial outcomes.
Key Responsibilities

Produce applications for payment, including valuation of variations and loss/expense.

Agree interim payments with clients and track payment notices.

Prepare project budgets in collaboration with contracts managers and operations director.

Manage monthly reporting and CVR processes.

Monitor budgets, costs, and projections on a monthly basis.

Handle subcontractor enquiries, quotation analysis, order placements, payments, and final accounts.

Assist in tender production.

Ensure contractual obligations are fulfilled.

Advise contracts managers on commercial matters, including variations and delays.

Conduct site visits to monitor for variations and ensure proper record-keeping.

Manage and motivate teams, setting clear expectations and providing feedback.

Develop and maintain relationships with key clients to enhance company reputation.

Prepare concise commercial reports that reflect contractual performance, risks, and opportunities.
Person Specification
Education & Qualifications:

Degree in Quantity Surveying or professional qualification (MRICS/MCIOB).

Full UK Driving Licence.
Experience & Skills:

Strong commercial awareness and ability to communicate financial and contractual matters clearly.

Knowledge of JCT Standard Forms of Contract and similar agreements.

Effective communicator and team player, able to work under pressure.

Proficient in MS Office and finance systems.

Experience in a Quantity Surveying role, ideally in demolition or enabling works.

Experience in subcontract procurement and order placement.
