Job Title: CNC Machinist

Salary: £28,000 - £32,000

Location: Horley

Hours: 39 Hour week (8-4.30 Mon-Thu, 8-4 Fri - Half hour lunch Mon-Thu, 1 hour lunch on Fri)

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Operate and set up CNC Mills and Lathes efficiently.
  • Work towards and exceed targets set by the supervisor/manager.
  • Report any issues or concerns to the supervisor promptly.
  • Identify and communicate necessary drawing changes.
  • Inspect and ensure product quality meets company standards.
  • Follow all Health & Safety regulations and company policies.
  • Adhere to company systems, procedures, and compliance requirements.
  • Create programs using FANUC/Licom software.
  • Machine parts with precision and within set timeframes.
  • Support colleagues and assist when needed.
  • Identify and suggest improvements to enhance processes.
  • Prepare machines for operators to run efficiently.
  • Maintain and organise tools properly.
  • Assist with stock checks and inventory management.
  • Keep the workspace clean, safe, and organised.
  • Maintain professional and courteous communication.
  • Accurately complete all necessary paperwork (e.g., time sheets, work orders).
  • Carry out additional tasks as required.
  • Participate in relevant training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.

Key Skills & Qualifications:

  • Strong Mechanical Engineering background with hands-on experience.
  • NVQ / HNC / HND in Mechanical Engineering or other relevant discipline.
  • Background in CNC machining or toolmaking.
  • Ability to produce one-off and small batch parts with high precision and quality.
  • Experience in setting and operating MAZATROL, FANUC, HAAS, or MAZAK controls (Mazak experience is beneficial but not essential).
  • Multi-axis machining experience is a plus.
  • Programming skills are advantageous.
  • Familiarity with ALPHACAM Advanced is beneficial.
  • Strong understanding of technical drawings, tolerances, and cutting speeds/feeds.
  • Ability to select appropriate tooling and fixtures for different components.
  • Training will be provided where needed.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations and best practices.
