Purpose:

Data is key in the energy industry and the Data Team’s role is to support the rapid growth of the business across both the Electricity and Gas energy industries. A vital aspect of this is the development and support of key Oracle PL/SQL-based systems for managing our data collection activities within the Electricity Market, where we are a leading Data Collector. We are looking for an experienced Oracle PL/SQL Developer to join us and get involved in both the ongoing development and maintenance of existing systems, and the development of a new Market-wide Half-Hourly Settlement (MHHS) system that is part of the huge industry shift to a new system to support universal half-hourly data .

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain to a high standard core PL / SQL based code for Electricity Market Settlement Systems.
  • Involvement in the design and development of our Advanced Data Service (ADS) data collection system as part of the wider Market-wide Half-Hourly Settlement (MHHS) system development.
  • Apply logical thinking and strong problem-solving processes to find efficient solutions for complex business challenges.
  • Provide data analysis and technical support involving the Oracle backend for Operations data collection activities as required.
  • Write clear documentation to accompany developments, including specifications, technical manuals, user manuals and use of task tracking systems.
  • Participate in regular training/ learning activities to maintain and develop skills and knowledge.
  • Adhere to all our policies, procedures and working practices.
  • Ensure the health and safety of yourself and others who may be affected by what you do; use work equipment provided safely and co-operate with managers to provide safe systems of work.
  • Any other reasonable duties as required.

Qualifications / Experience:

  • Experience in Oracle Standard or Enterprise
  • An appropriate professional qualification, degree or a minimum of 3 years practical experience of developing PL/SQL code.
  • Strong experience applying design principles, best practices, and schema design to database systems such as Oracle and SQL Server (MSSQL).
