Be a part of shaping our future, supporting the delivery of a substantial investment plan to develop and enhance our airport infrastructure and facilities.

As the Senior Estimator you will play a key role in supporting the Lead Commercial Manager in delivering the strategic aims and objectives of the business through an integrated and consistent approach to estimating ensuring that best practices are employed throughout all Programmes.

By providing accurate early-stage financial estimates and cost plans, you will help support cost control to prevent budget overruns and ensure the successful completion of projects within the allocated budget.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Support the Lead Commercial Manager in producing and periodically updating processes and procedures for estimating, benchmarking, and targeting costs, with a focus on current best practices.
  • Support project teams in practically applying processes and procedures for estimation and benchmarking.
  • Manage the utilisation of techniques to ensure that estimates and cost plans reflect value to the business, compared to the external market, through validation, cost modelling, and benchmarking.
  • Apply clear templates for presenting estimates and cost plans to Sponsors and Project teams, ensuring comprehensive and clear engagement.
  • Ensure that all estimates conform to a standardised cost breakdown structure, promoting alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Manage the utilisation of cost management structures to facilitate transparent cost comparisons throughout the project lifecycle, including comparisons with contractor tender submissions.
  • Design, develop, apply, and maintain standard templates in the Integrated Benchmarking & Estimating tool to present the basis of estimates, covering essential assumptions, omissions, allowances, and risk items.
  • Cultivate relationships with other Airports and Client organisations, fostering a community that shares data to establish a range of external benchmarks supporting value and capital efficiency demonstrations.
  • Define and routinely produce metrics for evaluating the cost-effectiveness of project estimates.

Qualifications and experience

  • Educated to Degree level or equivalent in a relevant engineering, construction or business-related field.
  • Membership in a professionally recognised cost organisation such as RICS highly desirable.
  • Experience as a Cost Planner / Senior Estimator (or similar) on multi-year programmes/projects with a value typically above £50m in a relevant industry.
