We are looking for….

Join our Horley office as an Assistant Network Control Engineer and be a part of the Gas Control Team. We need individuals passionate about the energy industry and ready to make a difference

We offer a starter role of Assistant Network Control Engineer for those new to gas transmission, with progression to a fully qualified Network Control Engineer (on full shift) over time when opportunities become available.

Starting on partial shift after training you will become an Assistant Network Control Engineer assisting in the day to day monitoring of both SGN local distribution zones and other commercial customers systems.

How you’ll support us on our mission to keep people safe and warm…

  • You will forecast gas demand to meet Uniform Network Code obligations. You will use several sources of data to formulate a demand value to submit to the gas shippers of the UK.
  • You will manage offtake flows and send flow notifications within commercial and physical limits.
  • You will perform a continual review and implement changes of operating strategies as demand/weather conditions change.
  • You will remotely monitor equipment, manage plant alarms, and undertake the necessary actions to maintain a safe and secure Network.
  • You will ensure specified target pressures and storage requirements are met, through the continual monitoring of key data.
  • You will liaise with field engineers as they enter and leave sites whilst maintain clear and precise logging of the movements and work details.
  • Maintaining precise updates to handovers/fault reports and management information.

  • Knowledge of the Gas Industry would be desirable.
  • Confidently make accurate decisions within tight timescales, while maintaining high performance without manager referral.
  • You need strong organisational, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills to manage distribution systems and authorize complex operations.
  • You will work well in a team and communicate effectively with all levels of staff and customers, within and outside of the Gas Control Team.
  • Be positive and flexible in your approach to work and strive for excellent performance in the Gas Control Centre.
  • To meet our BCM requirements, candidates must reside within a one-hour travel distance from our Horley office.
  • A full valid driving licence is essential.
