London Gatwick offers an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager (Civils) to join our dynamic team at the world's most efficient single-runway airport. Be a part of shaping our future, supporting the delivery of a substantial investment plan to develop and enhance our airport infrastructure and facilities.

In this pivotal role, you will lead the planning and execution of crucial Civil Engineering and Infrastructure projects within an operational airport environment. You will manage the technical, commercial, and financial aspects to achieve project and business objectives.

Due to recentproject wins, we are looking to expand our team across the Airfield Programme. As the Project Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the building of all civil elements of projects airside ranging from runway resurfacing, complex builds of extensions to piers, through to the upkeep of the runway and surrounding areas. Typical projects range from £20m - £150m.

TheRole

  • Lead and manage the project team to deliver in the design, procurement, construction, delivery, and handover of the project to achieve desired business outcomes and commitments.
  • Lead the development and maintenance of a culture of world class health, safety, and environmental standards across the project and its associated contractors to deliver the highest levels of health, safety and environmental performance achievable.
  • Identification and mitigation of risks that may adversely impact project delivery or adversely affect airport operations through the project/programme lifecycle.
  • Deliver the assigned project to defined cost, schedule, and quality requirements, leading the successful handover of assigned projects to the operations and/or Commercial Departments including ensuring all requisite Airport Operational Readiness planning and activities are in place.
  • Ensure sustainability is purposefully considered throughout the project lifecycle, actively seeking opportunities to further the sustainability outcomes, in line with the Construction Sustainability Strategy, as far as reasonably practicable.
  • Support the development of the project team; set standards, manage, motivate, coach and mentor staff within the team.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal and statutory obligations applicable to this role, including all standards and code compliance and required planning permissions.
  • Manage and positively influence key stakeholders (both internal & external) associated with theproject you are delivering.
  • Good communication skills with an ability to engage and present complex ideas simply and straightforwardly to stakeholders with very varied requirements.
  • Lead the Lessons Learnt process across all projects and embed a culture of continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Practitioner level in project management (e.g., APMP Project Management Qualification or PRINCE2 Practitioner).
  • Higher education qualification in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
  • Chartered Membership in the Institution of Civil Engineers is highly desirable.

  • Demonstrable experience in delivering infrastructure projects, typically over £5 million, in either live operational or access constrained
  • Proven contractual administration and knowledge of the key options of the NEC3/4 contract.
  • Experience in concrete and asphalt carriageway construction and/or rehabilitation isdesirable.
  • Experience in handling several projects at the same time, able to identify prioritisation and integration of the projects, where appropriate, to meet the overall requirements.
