About The School:

This SEN school is based in Smallfield, Surrey. They are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their talented team. Their school supports children aged 6-11 with communication difficulties, primarily those associated with Asperger's Syndrome and Autism.

The school operates in close partnership with a local Education Centre, sharing the same Principal and Head of School. While each location has its own Assistant Head and team of Teachers and TAs, staff and students do interact between sites, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment. Our onsite therapy team is also available to support both students and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish a warm, caring, and supportive relationship with pupils, helping them feel safe and fostering a positive learning environment.
  • Promote and encourage independence and personal growth in students.
  • Assist the Class Teacher with the day-to-day management and operations of the classroom.
  • Adapt to the changing needs of the school, undertaking various tasks as needed to ensure smooth operations. This may occasionally include physical intervention, for which full training will be provided.
  • Support the development of students' cognitive, social, emotional, behavioural, physical, and spiritual well-being.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Minimum of GCSE Maths and English, Grade 4 or equivalent (essential).
  • Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant Qualification (desirable but not essential).

  • Team TEACH Training (desirable).
