Reed Accountancy are currently assisting a long established client based in Horsham who are seeking an experienced Bookkeeper/Accountant to join their busy team on a part time basis. This office-based role reports directly to the Managing Director and encompasses full-cycle bookkeeping, accounts payable and receivable management, payroll, financial reporting, and compliance support.

Day-to-day duties of Bookkeeper/Accountant Clerk:

  • Manage all bookkeeping activities, including maintaining the general ledger, bank reconciliations, and posting journal entries.
  • Ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions, cash flow management, and credit control.
  • Take full ownership of the accounts payable process, from invoice receipt to payment, and maintain strong supplier relationships.
  • Oversee all aspects of accounts receivable, including customer invoicing, payment collections, and account reconciliations.
  • Prepare and submit monthly payroll data, manage new starter setups, and handle PAYE-related enquiries.
  • Contribute to monthly management accounts preparation and financial reporting, with a focus on cash flow forecasting.
  • Ensure financial activities comply with internal policies and regulatory requirements, and support external audits.
  • Identify and implement process improvements within the accounts payable and receivable functions.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in bookkeeping and accounts payable/receivable roles, ideally within the manufacturing industry.
  • Advanced Excel skills and a strong understanding of accounts payable/receivable processes and financial controls.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of interacting professionally with suppliers, customers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as an effective team player.
  • AAT Qualification is desirable but not essential.
