The Role
As an Energy Materials Technician, you will play a key role in supporting scientific and engineering teams working on advanced energy materials. You will work with a range of techniques and equipment to assist in the preparation, analysis, and quality control of materials used in clean energy technologies. From sample preparation to test support and laboratory maintenance, your contribution will be vital in driving forward innovative energy solutions.
 

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out practical tasks in Energy Materials laboratories, working closely with scientists and engineers to meet project deadlines.
  • Operate machinery and equipment for ink and solvent development, deposition, inspection, and analytical characterisation.
  • Support materials analysis, sample preparation, and quality control tests.
  • Maintain laboratory stocks, ensuring the availability of raw materials and tooling.
  • Keep work areas, equipment, and instruments clean and compliant with safety standards.
  • Follow strict Health & Safety protocols while working in controlled environments.
     

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience working in a scientific laboratory or manufacturing environment.
  • Practical experience with techniques such as ink, slurry, and solvent preparation, sample preparation, and deposition methods (screen printing, jet coating, spray coating).
  • Good manual dexterity and attention to detail, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with analytical techniques such as SEM, XRD, BET, PSD, and rheology is beneficial.
  • Basic IT skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
