This role is for a Senior Mechanical Engineer in a leading design and manufacturing business serving the defense industry. The position involves designing innovative electro-mechanical mechanisms, leading a project design team, and ensuring the timely and high-quality delivery of products.
Senior Mechanical Engineer Key Responsibilities:Lead the design and development of electro-mechanical mechanisms and precision machinery using 3D CAD (SolidWorks).
Conduct engineering analysis (stress, fatigue, vibration) and collaborate on simulations to validate designs.
Perform lab testing to verify design outputs and ensure they meet specifications.
Coordinate with wider engineering teams to integrate electronic, control, and drive systems into designs.
Provide support for production, test, and field engineering teams, and assist with bids and quotations.
Ensure the timely delivery of project outputs and contribute to customer-facing reports and design reviews.
Essential: Proven experience in designing complex mechanisms and systems from concept to production. Proficiency in SolidWorks and understanding of machining, casting, and fabrication techniques.
Desirable: Experience in harsh environments and the defense sector, especially in R&D and manufacturing. Previous leadership experience in a senior role and coaching talent within a team.
A passion for innovation and mechanical engineering, with strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, delivering results under deadlines.
Degree in Mechanical Engineering and proficient in engineering calculations.
