Site Manager – Health & Safety Focus (New Build School Project)

Location: Horsham
Project Type: New Build School (Multiple Subcontractors)

We are looking for a dedicated Site Manager to oversee Health & Safety on a large, fast-paced new build school project. With multiple subcontractors on site, your role will focus on ensuring that all work is carried out safely, efficiently, and in compliance with health and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage Health & Safety on Site: Ensure that all subcontractors are adhering to health and safety protocols, maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Conduct Daily Tool Box Talks: Lead daily site meetings to communicate safety procedures and project updates to all workers.
  • Supervise Site Activities: Oversee the work of various gangs, ensuring they are following safety guidelines and maintaining a clean and tidy workspace.
  • Issue Notices: When subcontractors fail to adhere to safety or site protocols, issue notices to ensure compliance.
  • Logistics Management: Oversee deliveries and site logistics, ensuring that materials are delivered and distributed efficiently and safely.
  • Monitor Site Cleanliness: Ensure that the site is kept clean and organized at all times, minimizing hazards and maintaining a safe work environment for all personnel.
  • Regular Reporting: Provide updates on health and safety performance, incidents, and project progress to senior management.

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

  • Proven experience managing health and safety on construction sites, particularly on large-scale projects.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and industry best practices.
  • SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme).
  • First Aid certification.
  • CSCS Card (ideally Black or White Manager's Card).
  • Previous experience working on new build projects and managing multiple subcontractors.
  • Experience working with a Tier 2 Contractor
  • Experience of projects up to £10 million
