Job Overview:

We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic Religious Education (RE) Teacher to join the team at this prestigious and dynamic secondary school. The successful candidate will play a key role in inspiring and motivating students, guiding them through the study of religious beliefs, values, and ethical issues. You will contribute to students' understanding of diverse cultures and perspectives, fostering empathy, tolerance, and spiritual growth. Your lessons will be engaging, thought-provoking, and aligned with the curriculum, encouraging students to reflect on the role of religion in contemporary society.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging RE lessons for students of varying abilities across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5.
  • Teach a broad range of religious traditions, philosophies, and worldviews, promoting respectful exploration of different beliefs.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback to students and maintaining clear communication with parents.
  • Encourage critical thinking and discussion on moral, ethical, and philosophical topics to help students develop balanced perspectives.
  • Create an inclusive and supportive classroom environment where students feel confident expressing their thoughts and beliefs.
  • Design and implement differentiated lesson plans to meet the needs of all learners, including SEN and EAL students.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of the RE curriculum, ensuring alignment with National Curriculum and exam board requirements.
  • Organise and participate in extracurricular activities, including educational trips, guest speakers, and workshops related to religious studies.
  • Stay current with educational best practices through continuous professional development.
  • Ensure effective classroom management and adherence to the school's behaviour policies, maintaining a productive learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with other teachers and departments to enhance cross-curricular learning opportunities.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with a focus on Religious Education or a closely related subject.
  • A degree in Religious Studies, Theology, Philosophy, or a related field.
  • Experience teaching Religious Education at the secondary level, ideally across Key Stage 3 and 4 (experience in Key Stage 5 is an advantage).
