An established Freight company are seeking a proactive and customer-focused Logistics Team Member to oversee day-to-day operational functions, customer service, and overall business efficiency. As a Logistics Administrator you will be hands-on, relationship-driven individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is eager to contribute to both operational success and client engagement.

Operations Controller responsibilities:

  • Support the operations team in fulfilling customer requirements.
  • Plan and organise your workload, working both independently and as part of a team.
  • Engage with existing clients via phone, video calls, and in-person meetings.
  • Coordinate air, road, and sea shipments within the UK and for cross-trade movements.
  • Ensure billing accuracy and apply sound commercial judgment on customer margins.
  • Prepare and present quotations for project-based, ad-hoc, and regular shipments.
  • Complete job files accurately and enter bookings into the internal management system.
  • Track and trace customer shipments, updating portals and sending milestone reports.
  • Ensure compliance with both internal policies and external regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in pick/pack/distribution activities as needed (manual tasks involved).
  • Build strong internal relationships across operations, finance, transport, and management.
  • Participate in the on-call rota, shared equally among the team.
  • Prepare monthly client reports and communicate key insights.

Skills & experience required:

  • 2+ year’s experience in Freight, sea, air or road
  • Dealing with Airline or shipment company directly
  • Ability to create and articulate reports and customer proposals effectively.
  • Time management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks.
  • Management and leadership skills with a proactive mindset.
  • A 'go the extra mile’ mentality to ensure operational excellence.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Strong customer service skills with proven interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work autonomously, using initiative to solve problems
