Maintenance Worker

Location: Ealing, Hounslow, 15 minutes from Heathrow Airport.

Job Type: Full-Time / Part-Time

Salary:

Part time 3 day per week - must be on 24hr call £14,000 to £19,000

Full time 37.5 to 40 hpw - must be on 24hr call £20,000 to £25,000 exceptionally skilled candidates

salary can be negotiated

Can use your own vehicle or company vehicle, travelling expenses paid

Position Summary: The Maintenance Worker is responsible for the general upkeep, repair, and safety of the residential care home. This includes performing routine maintenance tasks, addressing repair needs, and ensuring that the facility remains in good working order to provide a safe and comfortable environment for residents, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • General Maintenance:

Perform regular inspections and maintenance of building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and lighting.

Report repairs cosmetic or structural which will need to be outsourced.

Conduct routine checks and repairs of the facility's infrastructure, including doors, windows, floors, and fixtures.

Ensure that emergency systems, such as fire alarms and emergency lighting, are operational.

  • Repairs and Upkeep:

Address and resolve maintenance requests and issues promptly, prioritizing safety and minimizing disruption to residents.

Conduct minor carpentry, painting, plumbing, and electrical repairs as needed.

Maintain grounds and landscaping, ensuring they are well-kept and safe.

  • Preventative Maintenance:

Develop and follow a preventative maintenance schedule to extend the life of equipment and reduce unexpected breakdowns.

Keep accurate records of maintenance activities and repairs.

  • Safety and Compliance:

Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including proper storage of hazardous materials and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Assist in emergency preparedness planning and drills.

  • Team Collaboration:

Coordinate with the administrative team and healthcare staff to ensure maintenance activities do not disrupt resident care.

Provide support during facility upgrades or renovations.

Qualifications:

Certification for:
Plumbing, Gas work, Electrical, HVAC.

Skills:

Proficiency in general maintenance tasks, including basic plumbing, electrical, and carpentry.

Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures.

Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues promptly and effectively.

Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively.

  • Physical Requirements:

Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy objects, climbing ladders, and working in various weather conditions.

Must be able to stand, walk, and perform manual labor for extended periods.
