The Assistant Night Operations Manager will assist in overseeing the night warehouse and transport operations efficiently and cost-effectively, ensuring adherence to all Health & Safety policies and procedures. This role demands strong leadership, organizational skills, and a proactive approach to managing resources, staff, and compliance requirements.
Shift: Sunday to Thursday, 18:0004:00 (Flexibility for shift cover required).
Key Responsibilities:This role includes the following key duties but is not limited to them:
- Oversee and support all night shift warehouse operations.
- Organize and manage staff to ensure seamless operational service for internal and external customers.
- Proactively plan and allocate resources to ensure efficiency.
- Develop and implement contingency plans and ensure effective communication of these plans.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized warehouse environment at all times.
- Drive efficiency improvements by refining work procedures and practices.
- Optimize staff utilization while reducing overtime and operational costs.
- Maintain high standards of Health & Safety and ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
- Ensure warehouse operations adhere to Security and CAA regulations.
- Oversee maintenance and servicing of manual handling equipment in collaboration with MHE providers.
- Regularly inform senior management of key activities, events, and progress.
- Provide training and development opportunities for staff, fostering career growth.
- Manage transport-related tasks, including driver support, vehicle maintenance, and defect reporting.
- Ensure compliance with CAA guidelines for freight handling, documentation, and premises security.
- Audit vehicle keys, fuel cards, and tracking systems to ensure accountability and compliance.
- Lead and manage the night planners, driving operational efficiencies.
- Supply detailed shift handovers, both written and verbal.
- Be available for escalations and issues throughout the night shifts.
- Support the implementation of KPIs and reporting systems and meet performance expectations.
- Provide holiday and peak volume cover as needed, with flexibility in working hours.
- Act as on-call support for the night team as required.
- Proven experience in the Logistics sector, with supervisory experience.
- Comprehensive knowledge of logistics and freight forwarding functions.
- Strong understanding of Aviation Security regulations.
- Current Forklift License.
