Senior BEMS Consultant
Salary: £55,000 - £70,000 + health insurance, car allowance, pension scheme, 30 days annual leave, professional development + more
Location: Head Office - Camberley (with UK travel required)
Role Overview
My client is looking for a BEMS Consultant that will work directly with clients to deliver a full range of BEMS (Building Energy Management Systems) and System Consultancy services. The role involves a variety of responsibilities throughout the project lifecycle, from conceptual discussions to feasibility, scheme design, detailed design, tendering, and implementation. The consultant will either work independently or as part of a wider team, ensuring thatservices add value at every project stage.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct surveys, produce detailed reports, and provide recommendations for clients based on system condition findings.
- Conduct Energy Management Surveys and Specification reviews and evaluations to assess project viability.
- Provide expert application advice to clients regarding BEMS solutions.
- Produce conceptual and scheme designs, performance specifications, and contribute to detailed design development for BEMS projects.
- Lead tender management processes, including tender vetting and preparation of cost/bid analysis.
- Manage projects on behalf of the client, including reporting on progress, contract administration, and ensuring that projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Oversee commissioning management, including snagging and conducting system witness testing, as well as attending BMS Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).
- Develop case studies to demonstrate successful project outcomes.
- Review and update building energy logbooksto ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
- Deliver client systems training to ensure smooth project execution and operational efficiency.
- Maintain and improve personal CPD, sharing knowledge with colleagues and clients.
- Ensure all project activities are captured in the CRM tool to foster collaboration and continuity across teams.
Key Skills Required
- Demonstrable experience in the building services industry, particularly within consultancy or contracting. Knowledge of installation, testing, and commissioning of control systems is essential.
- Strong experience in managing projects, with a focus on timely delivery and quality assurance.
- Expertise in BMS (Building Management Systems), including iBMSand controls, with the ability to develop and implement technical solutions.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills, ensuring accurate reporting and system evaluations.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with senior managers, directors, architects, M&E contractors, and other stakeholders.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships, persuade, and influence.
- Able to work effectively as part of a team, collaborating with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Proficient in IT, with experience in software tools relevant to BEMS and project management.
- Strong self-management skills, with a proactive approach to professional development and project execution.
- A strong passion for technology and innovation within the field of building management and energy efficiency.
Experience & Qualifications
- HNC in a related engineering discipline (electrical or mechanical).
- Degree in building services engineering or electrical engineering.
- Extensive knowledge of systems such as Trend, Tridium, and Niagara, with prior experience working for a BMS/Control systems manufacturer, as a contractor, or a systems integrator.
- Experience working within building services consultancy is highly desirable.
- Membership or accreditation with CIBSE (Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers) is desirable.
Working Conditions
- This role is primarily based at the company's head office in Camberley.
- Travel to client sites across the UK will be required, with the expectation of flexibility to accommodate project needs.
