About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to join our team for an exciting contract and dynamic role within the aviation and infrastructure sector. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in contract management, specifically under the NEC 4 contract framework

The role ideally requires a candidate to have experience in high-stakes environments such as rail, aviation, or similae projects. You will be responsible for overseeing the commercial aspects of projects, ensuring cost control, contract compliance, and the successful delivery of projects on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contract Management: Lead and manage the commercial aspects of contracts, ensuring compliance with NEC 4 conditions, clauses, and obligations.
  • CEMAR Implementation: Utilise CEMAR (Contract and Event Management and Reporting) to monitor and control project costs, track budgets, and report on variations between forecasted and actual costs. Manage all notifications, compensation events, and communications within the platform.
  • Cost Control: Maintain cost control procedures, conduct regular cost forecasting, and implement measures to optimise costs, reduce risks, and ensure profitability. Ensure all financial information is accurately tracked and managed through CEMAR.
  • Project Performance Tracking: Collaborate with project teams to track project performance and deliverables, ensuring alignment with financial goals and key milestones.
  • Risk Management: Identify, assess, and manage commercial risks, proactively addressing potential challenges to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Liaise with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication of commercial issues, resolving any contractual or financial disputes as necessary.
  • Reporting & Documentation: Prepare commercial reports, financial forecasts, and document control in accordance with company standards and project requirements. Use CEMAR for reporting purposes, ensuring clear, consistent, and compliant documentation.
  • Compliance & Quality Assurance: Ensure adherence to industry standards, health and safety regulations, and quality control protocols within all commercial and contract management processes.

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Commercial Manager within the construction sector, with a focus on infrastructure and telecommunications projects, including optical and fibre cabling.
  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with NEC 4 contract conditions and frameworks.
  • Experience utilising CEMAR for cost engineering, financial management, project cost control, and managing contractual events and communications.
  • Exceptional commercial acumen, with a track record of managing multi-million-pound projects and ensuring financial success.
  • Significant experience in high-stakes environments
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, contractors, and internal teams.
  • Solid understanding of contract law, risk management, and dispute resolution in a construction or infrastructure setting.
  • Relevant qualifications in construction management, engineering, or a related field are desirable.
  • Experience working on optical fibre and telecoms infrastructure projects, ideally within a construction or engineering environment.
  • Familiarity with other contract frameworks (e.g., JCT, FIDIC) is beneficial.
