A new role has come up in the Heathrow area.
Our client is looking for a customs and airfreight manager. Ideally they would like a candidate who can do both roles
The customs part of the role, the candidate will need to set everything up from the beginning. They will need to manage all of our clients required applications with customs and also complete all customs entries until the team can grow. For the airfreight part of the role, the candidate will be responsible for all areas from obtaining to ongoing management of airfreight space.
Working with the Operations Manager, Senior Logistics Manager and wider Network Team, this role will involve overseeing all customs and airfreight processes, managing air-freight space, and ensuring continued high level of service while always driving down costs.
Duties Include:
Manage end to end import and export processes and customs entries
Manage our customs integration provider
Manage team of customs clerks, to be put in place as the business grows, to ensure smooth running of the customs processes
Ensure compliance with all relevant import and export regulations
Act as the main contact point for customs related matters for the business
Design processes and build SOPs, circulate to the business and ensure they are being followed
Obtain required air-freight space, liaising with providers and monitoring volumes to ensure no delays or waste of space
Liaise with airfreight providers to drive down cost and improve service
Manage carriers and handling agents to minimize issues and combat exceptions
Report to the business on various topics, such as AKE fill rate and airfreight costs
Work with analysts within the team to create relevant and impactful reporting
Key Skills:
Expert knowledge of imports, exports, and trans-shipments
Familiar with multiple customs systems
Strong commercial focus and ability to negotiate
Experience creating and discharging transit docs (T1 etc.)
Strong knowledge of customs processes and systems
Proven track record of building and leading a team
Experience with bonded goods and bonded clearance
