Job Description:

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Geography specialist to lead our Geography Department and drive the strategic direction of the Trust. This dual role combines leadership of a high-performing department with the opportunity to influence the wider school community and our partner schools within the Trust.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Geography Department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Develop and implement a dynamic and engaging Geography curriculum that inspires students.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, using data to inform interventions and support.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Provide professional development and mentoring for Geography staff.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to shape the strategic direction of the Trust.
  • Promote and support environmental education and sustainability initiatives across the Trust.
  • Engage with stakeholders, including parents, governors, and external partners.

Person Specification:

  • A degree in Geography or a related field, with QTS (Qualified Teacher Status).
  • Proven experience in teaching Geography at secondary school level.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with a track record of improving student outcomes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to fostering a love of learning and environmental awareness.
  • Ability to think strategically and contribute to the overall vision of the Trust.
  • Experience in curriculum development and innovation.
  • A collaborative and inclusive approach to leadership.
