About the Role
A reputable secondary school in Hounslow is seeking a dedicated and skilled Design and Technology (DT) Teacher to join their dynamic department. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic educator to inspire students across Key Stages 3, 4, and potentially Key Stage 5, fostering creativity and practical skills.
As a DT Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging lessons that cover various aspects of design and technology, including product design, resistant materials, graphics, or engineering. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in DT and a passion for motivating students to achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and Deliver Lessons: Create and implement well-structured DT lessons that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities.
- Student Assessment: Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback to support their development.
- Curriculum Development: Collaborate with colleagues to develop and enhance the DT curriculum, ensuring it remains current and engaging.
- Classroom Management: Maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment, promoting high standards of behavior and engagement.
- Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure all practical activities adhere to health and safety regulations, maintaining a safe classroom and workshop environment.
- Professional Development: Engage in continuous professional development to stay abreast of the latest educational practices and DT innovations.
Candidate Profile:
We are looking for a DT Teacher who:
- Qualifications: Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.
- Experience: Has experience teaching Design and Technology across Key Stages 3 and 4; experience with Key Stage 5 is advantageous.
- Subject Knowledge: Demonstrates strong knowledge in areas such as product design, resistant materials, graphics, or engineering.
- Teaching Skills: Utilizes a variety of teaching methods to engage students and foster a love for design and technology.
- Communication: Possesses excellent communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
- Adaptability: Is flexible and responsive to the changing needs of the classroom and the wider school community.
