Cabling Design Engineer
6 month contract (highly extendable)
£400-£475 per day - INSIDE IR35
Hybrid working, 2-3 days a week onsite in Hounslow when required
Design of physical network solutions involving network products, cable infrastructure, cabinet designs and architectural drawings.
Core Activities:
- Design of network architectures for structured cabling, mainly focused on Copper and Fibre cabling
- Planning cable routes through buildings via physical surveys and working from architectural drawings
- Fibre Optic cabling & physical infrastructure standards and CAT 5E/6/6E/7 cabling & physical infrastructure standards
- Ensure designs for the project adhere to recognised cabling and physical infrastructure standards.
- Extract and analyses from survey and existing design data and recommend improvements/corrections.
- Produce SoW (Statements of Works), High-and Low-Level Designs in line with internal processes
- Ensure support test strategy lifecycle at an airport focuses on various systems, equipment, and processes function efficiently and safely for Planning, Test Design, Execution, Validation, Monitoring, Post-Testing to Final Sign-off.
- Gather user requirements and liaise with stakeholders.
- Produce options reports.
- Aware of Health and Safety requirements for designs e.g. CDM and fully complies with requirements for working on construction sites. Your transferable skills and experience:
Experience
- Education background 5 years minimum experience in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in network design for physical networks, implementation, and support
- Has a clear knowledge and experience of, and can demonstrate and manage, the design lifecycle from initial analysis through to final testing and customer handover.
- Hands-on experience with CCTV, WLAN (Wi-Fi 6), OTN, and 5G.
- Experience in fiber optics, structured cabling, and radio communication systems.
