My client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced marine engineer to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years' hand-on experience in marine engineering, with a strong background in ship design, naval and architecture, or marine systems engineering. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead and contribute to diverse marine engineering projects, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and drive innovation in the maritime industry. Majority of your working week will be required to be on site.

Responsibilities for the marine engineer will be as follows:

  • Lead the design, analysis, and optimisation of marine systems, structures, and components.
  • The marine engineer will manage and oversee engineering projects from concept to completion, ensuring quality, efficiency, and compliance with regulations and standards.
  • Conduct technical evaluations, feasibility studies, and risk assessments for marine engineering projects.
  • The marine engineer will provide technical expertise and guidance to designers, and project teams.
  • Liaising with the clients, stakeholders, and regulatory authorities to understand project requirements, address concerns, and ensure project success.
  • The marine engineer will collaborate with internal and external partners to develop innovative solutions and design concepts that meet project objectives and client needs.
  • Perform engineering calculations, simulations, and modelling activities using specialised software tools and methodologies
  • The marine engineer will stay updated on emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in mariner engineering, and incorporate new knowledge into project designs and methodologies.
  • Participate in industry conferences, workshops, and forums to share insights, exchange knowledge, and build relationships with the maritime community.

Qualification requirements for the marine engineer:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in marine engineering, Naval Architecture, Ocean Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5 years' experience in mariner engineering, ship design, naval architecture, or marine systems engineering.
  • Strong technical expertise in marine systems, ship structures, hydrodynamics, propulsion systems and related disciplines.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations, classification rules, and industry standards governing marine engineering and ship design.
  • Project management skills coupled with the ability to manage multiple projects at any one time.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, analytic abilities and attention to details
  • Ability to communicate across all levels and cross departments, building rapport with clients and stakeholders.
  • A professional engineering license is a preference but not a requirement.
  • Previous experience working in a consultation or engineering firm within the maritime industry is desirable.
