Tradewind is excited to present an exceptional opportunity for a full-time SEN Teaching Assistant at a secondary school in Hounslow. We are seeking a dedicated individual with a passion for supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), especially those facing behavioural, social, and emotional challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide targeted support to students with SEN, including those with SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs.
  • Implement tailored strategies to address individual Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP) objectives.
  • Facilitate differentiated learning to support diverse abilities, helping students to access the curriculum in a way that meets their needs.
  • Support a nurturing and structured environment, promoting positive behaviour management and emotional regulation techniques.
  • Work collaboratively with SENCOs (Special Educational Needs Coordinators), class teachers, and other support staff to enhance individual learning outcomes.
  • Deliver 1:1 and small-group interventions aimed at improving both academic and emotional resilience.

Requirements:

  • Prior experience supporting students with SEMH, ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder), or other behavioural needs.
  • Strong skills in classroom and behaviour management, with the ability to apply de-escalation techniques.
  • Familiarity with sensory and therapeutic approaches to support students with complex needs.
  • A positive, empathetic attitude with a proactive approach to nurturing student growth.

Essential Criteria:

  • Previous experience in a secondary school SEN setting.
  • Knowledge of EHCPs, IEPs (Individual Education Plans), and other SEN support documentation.
  • Excellent behaviour management skills with an understanding of trauma-informed approaches.
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Enhanced DBS Disclosure.
  • Overseas Police Clearance (if applicable).
  • Professional references.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, staff, and parents.

Working Hours: Full-time, 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM, Monday to Friday.
