About the Role:
As a Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising students during teacher absences, ensuring that lessons continue smoothly in a safe and supportive environment. This role involves working with students who have a wide range of needs, including autism spectrum disorder (ASD), learning difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise students in the absence of their usual class teacher.
- Support students with a variety of SEN needs, helping them engage with the curriculum.
- Provide a nurturing, inclusive, and safe environment for students.
- Ensure students remain on task and follow instructions given by the class teacher or school leadership.
- Manage classroom behaviour effectively, using positive reinforcement and strategies.
- Work closely with SEN staff and teachers to ensure students' needs are being met.
- Help students with tasks such as note-taking, using assistive technology, and participating in activities.
- Encourage social and emotional development by fostering positive relationships.
- Provide feedback to teachers on student progress, challenges, and behaviour.
About You:
- Previous experience working with children or young people, particularly those with SEN, is highly desirable.
