Job Overview:

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Speech and Language Therapist to join our multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting students with communication difficulties, language disorders, and social communication challenges. This position offers a unique opportunity to work closely with students, teachers, and families to enhance communication skills and improve learning outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess the speech, language, and communication needs of students.
  • Develop and implement individualized therapy plans for students based on their specific needs.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, teaching assistants, and other support staff to provide integrated support within the classroom.
  • Monitor and evaluate the progress of students and adjust therapy plans as needed.
  • Provide training and advice to staff and families to support students’ communication development.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of therapy sessions and progress reports.
  • Contribute to multi-disciplinary team meetings and collaborate on education, health, and care plans (EHCPs).
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
  • Recognized degree in Speech and Language Therapy.
  • Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND, ideally within a school setting.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Desirable Skills:
  • Knowledge of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems.
  • Experience in delivering training to staff and families.
  • Flexibility and creativity in supporting communication development across different learning environments.
