Management Accountant required for East Sussex Charity - Full or part time

CIMA/ACCA/ACA qualified accountant - 6 month fixed term contract

An opportunity has arisen for a Management Accountant candidate to join an amazing Charity and undertake a 6 month Fixed term maternity leave contract

To support the smooth and efficient running of the organisation by:

  • Providing efficient, flexible, high-quality financial management and reporting services;
  • Providing oversight of the financial administration of the department;
  • Ensuring the accuracy, confidentiality and security of data and sensitive information at all times.

Description

  • Managing Chairty Share including recording pledges, managing direct debit collections and producing regular statements
  • Respond to queries from other departments and treasurers,
  • book-keeping for the DBF including managing the main, Aided Schools and Archdeacons Loan ledgers;
  • reviewing bank reconciliations, receipts analysis and payment analysis prepared by the Accounts Assistant;
  • preparing and posting journals for clergy stipend payroll and DBF payroll;
  • managing accruals and prepayments
  • processing sensitive and confidential payments including payroll;
  • reviewing purchase invoices on XLedger
  • raising and monitoring sales invoices for the DBF, including applying correct VAT treatment to invoices
  • management of event management systems
  • preparing monthly management accounts
  • supporting DBF staff to use Xledger for reporting purposes
  • supporting treasury management by preparing the regular cashflow forecasts;
  • preparation of ad hoc reports for budget holders and projects as required
  • assisting with the annual budget setting process;
  • working with the Finance Director to prepare the year end accounts and answer queries from the auditors;
  • responsibility for filing quarterly VAT returns.
  • assisting with payroll and pension questions

Profile

  • A recognised CCAB accounting qualification, with at least three years' experience in a relevant role.
  • Experience of preparing VAT returns
  • Experience of payroll and pensions
  • Knowledge of the Charity SORP and experience of preparing charity accounts.. .
  • Experience of computerised accounts and spreadsheet applications to manage accounts.
  • IT literate with experience of using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Have high attention to detail to ensure data is accurate and reliable, with good numeracy skills
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines, evidence of high levels of self-organisation
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organisation and externally including ability to communicate technical issues clearly and simply to non-accountants
  • Be a collaborative team member, but also able to work independently and under pressure to achieve team and individual goals
