Loan Support/Members Services Officer

We are seeking a dedicated Loan Support/Members Services Officer to join our team. This role is crucial in managing our credit control operations and providing exceptional service to our members. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the timely payment of loans and supporting the member services team.

Day-to-day of the role:

Credit Control (75% of role)

  • Contact members who have fallen behind on repayments via telephone, email, and face-to-face interactions.
  • Use sensitive listening and questioning skills to understand members' situations and negotiate repayment solutions.
  • Maintain accurate records of all actions taken on default accounts and prepare monthly reports on accounts in arrears for management.
  • Collaborate with the Collections Finance Coordinator to review accounts and ensure effective actions are taken to secure repayment.
  • Negotiate repayments with third-party debt management companies and free advice centres.
  • Monitor loans listed on the bad debt provision and follow up as necessary.

Membership Services (25% of role)

  • Provide cover and support to the member services team, handling queries via phone, face-to-face, email, and online.
  • Process transaction requests, membership applications, password resets, and setup or amend direct debits.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • GCSEs including English and Mathematics (or equivalent).
  • Experience in credit control, preferably with qualifications or training in the field.
  • Competency in Microsoft Office, databases, and email/internet packages.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to negotiate effectively.
  • Ability to work to targets and manage deadlines.
  • Methodical approach to work with strong attention to detail.
