Electrical Design Engineer: Switchgear: Hove

Responsible for supporting the Engineering Department in new product development and providing electrical engineering support of switchgear for railway electrification and other industries.

Ideally a candidate with some experience designing control systems. Somebody that understands relay logic, and has experience with AutoCAD or another brands equivalent.

The role is office based, primarily. But after a settling in period, they can accommodate some hybrid working.

Tasks and Activities

• Work closely with the client to produce drawings, specifications and reports of a high accuracy and standard.

• Use of AutoCAD to produce circuit diagrams, layouts, detailed drawings and wiring schedules as necessary.

• Apply relevant electrical theory to carry out fault and protection grading studies, protection settings, etc. to

develop and verify your designs and reports.

• Be familiar with SCADA and PLC hardware and software concepts and have a willingness to develop a PLC

software design role.

• Responsible for preparing the construction file for issue to the manufacturing team, which would include all

drawings, schedules, build manuals and equipment details.

• Product design, including; equipment layouts, arrangements & technical specifications, single line diagrams,

PLC system specifications.

• Interface design drawings, multicore cable schedules, production of termination drawings and associated

information.

• System analysis activities, including load flow and fault studies.

• Protection system design and analysis, including fault and grading studies.

• AC & DC Auxiliary Supply design.

• Current and Voltage Transformer requirements.

• Following rigorous change control procedures.

• Ensuring all relevant specifications and standards are adhered to.

• Attending kick off meetings, design reviews and performance meetings.

• Managing all engineering activities associated with each project i.e. design, development, materials,

procurement, implementation, commissioning and final handover.

• Managing follow-on engineering issues i.e. Technical Queries (TQ's) and Engineering Queries (EQ's).

• Complete technical close-out to allow commercial completion.
