We are seeking a talented Mechanical Design Engineer up to Senior level to join a leading industrial and manufacturing company, based in Huddersfield. This role offers an exciting opportunity to utilise innovative and creative skills in designing and developing new products. The position requires a balance of technical expertise and effective team collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design Engineering: Design and develop mechanical systems and components.
  • Product Development: Re-engineer existing designs and create new applications.
  • Test Equipment Design: Develop test equipment and procedures for gearboxes.
  • Customer Requirements: Interpret and apply customer specifications and design standards, including geometric tolerancing.
  • Standards Compliance: Ensure designs meet relevant industry standards (performance, safety, etc.).
  • Documentation: Produce and manage technical documentation including proposals, manuals, and installation/maintenance instructions.
  • CAD Expertise: Utilize 2D and 3D CAD software (Solid Edge preferred) to create component and assembly drawings, BOMs, and gear data, including technical documentation checks.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with Production Engineering and Supply Chain teams to solve technical issues.
  • Continuous Improvement: Participate in DFMEA, PFMEA, and continuous improvement activities.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of product design and analysis methods.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing techniques, materials, and processing methods.
  • Familiarity with industry standards such as ISO, AGMA, DIN, FKM, DNV.
  • Awareness of Machinery Safety regulations.
  • Experience with SAP in the context of engineering design data specification is a plus.
