Job Description:

I am seeking an experienced and dynamic Head Chef to lead the kitchen team at a hotel located near Huddersfield. This role is ideal for a passionate culinary professional with strong leadership skills and experience in conferencing, weddings, and events, ensuring the delivery of exceptional food for a variety of occasions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of the kitchen, ensuring the highest standards of food quality, presentation, and consistency.
  • Develop and create innovative menus using seasonal and locally sourced ingredients, tailored to conferences, weddings, events, and daily service.
  • Lead, motivate, and train the kitchen team to ensure smooth and efficient service during busy periods, including large-scale events.
  • Ensure full compliance with food hygiene, safety, and cleanliness regulations.
  • Manage food costs, inventory, and stock control while achieving financial targets such as GP margins.
  • Work closely with the front-of-house and events teams to ensure seamless coordination between the kitchen and dining/event areas.
  • Implement effective training programs to support the growth and development of kitchen staff.
  • Maintain supplier relationships, negotiate prices, and ensure that orders are made promptly.
  • Manage efficient use of resources, control portion sizes, and minimise waste.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience as a Head Chef in a hotel, restaurant, or similar environment, with a strong background in conferencing, weddings, and event catering.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills with the ability to inspire and mentor others.
  • Strong knowledge of modern culinary techniques, food trends, and event-specific catering requirements.
  • Solid financial acumen with experience in budget management, GP control, and cost analysis.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a busy environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • A passion for using seasonal and locally sourced ingredients to create outstanding dishes.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to multitask effectively during large events.
