Duties
As an Engineer (NRASWA Inspector) you will be required to work up to 37 hrs per week over 5 days (Monday to Friday). The role is approximately 25% office and 75% site based and you will be required to undertake duties such as:
Monitor and report on works on the highway by carrying out inspections under NRASWA, including inspection of works, reinstatements and ironwork.
Ensure that all works promoters comply with signing, lighting and guarding requirements, as required by Chapter 8 of the Traffic Signs Manual and "Safety at Street Works and Road Works: a code of Practice".
Ensure that works promoters comply with the "Specification for the Reinstatement of Openings in Highways".
Record details of inspections carried out and maintain appropriate records to help ensure the recovery of relevant fees and charges, including NRASWA inspections, Section 74, Fixed Penalty Notices, and approvals for skips, scaffolding and hoarding.
Undertake permit compliance checks.
Assist with the co-ordination of works, events on the highway, and temporary highway obstructions, e.g. builders’ skips and scaffoldings/hoardings, are co-ordinated and comply with safety legislation.
Reply to enquiries, including service requests.
Provide support, assistance and information to Co-ordination Officers, and other staff, to ensure the provision of an effective and efficient service that meets agreed performance targets, and Service

Full NRASWA Supervisor accreditation.
A full and valid driving licence and be able to drive a council vehicle, or willing to undertake and pass a Kirklees Council driving test.
