Information about the Role:

Working as a Cook / Chef at Sun woodhouse your duties will include the following:

  • Creating, preparing, and cooking fresh, nutritious and varied meals for our residents including those who may require modified or special diets.
  • Ensuring preparation and presentation is always to a high standard.
  • planning meals and consulting with residents and care staff to ensure that individual dietary needs and preferences are catered for.
  • Some responsibility for ordering, checking in and controlling supplies.
  • Working as part of a diverse staff team.
  • Opportunities to influence the menu and the dining experience of those within our care. (quarterly review of menus)
  • Ensuring that the dining experience is positive.
  • Ensuring that the kitchen standards are maintained in line with the Safer Food Better Business requirements.
  • To prepare and present food to a high standard and quality.
  • To ensure that you work within an agreed budget.
  • To manage and order stock.

Information about the Service:

Sun Woodhouse Care Home is in a pleasant residential area, a short distance from the centre of Huddersfield. We can accommodate up to 24 people, either on a long-term basis or for a short respite, with most bedrooms including en-suite facilities.

A variety of activities take place at our home, including baking, karaoke nights, singers, painting, movie nights, armchair exercises, and animal interactions.

All food is homemade by our chefs, with menus that cater for different preferences; we are situated near to supermarket, cafes, a library and a direct bus route; and we have excellent relationships with the local church, a number of schools, and a taxi company who will provide wheelchair accessible taxis when requested

Necessary Experience or Qualifications to work as a Cook / Chef:

  • The right candidate will have a real passion for Cooking.
  • Relevant experience/qualifications in a similar setting working as a Chef or Cook.
  • Allergen awareness qualifications.
  • Ability to work on shift/rota pattern, including some weekends.
  • Have the right to the work in the UK.
  • Excellent organisation skills.
  • Working knowledge of the Safe Food Better Business requirements.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
