We are working with a local authority in Huddersfield to find a Finance Manager on an interim basis.Daily Rate: £500 Umbrella (Within IR35) Location: Huddersfield (Primarily home working with occasional office visits)Job Type: Temporary (6 months), Full time.An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Finance Manager to support Children’s Services on a 6-month temporary basis. This role includes involvement in the Safety Valve Programme and managing a team of 6, with 2 Senior Finance Officers reporting directly to you. The position offers the chance to make a significant impact by providing financial guidance to service directors and contributing to the betterment of children’s services.Day to Day of the Role:-          Oversee monthly budget monitoring and provide financial insights to the Senior Leadership Team.-          Attend and present at Senior Leadership Team meetings, offering support with budget setting and financial queries.-          Lead and performance manage a finance team, ensuring high-quality service delivery.-          Foster a culture of continuous improvement by evaluating and enhancing financial processes.-          Collaborate with the Head of Service and be an active member of the Finance Manager Group.-          Provide comprehensive financial management services in line with statutory, financial, and Council procedures.-          Support the Service Director and Head of Service in financial planning and strategy development.Required Skills & Qualifications:-          Membership of a recognised CCAB professional accountancy body.-          Experience in resource and business planning within a local authority or similarly complex organisation.-          Awareness of current issues affecting local government and their financial implications.-          Proficiency in complex financial systems within a large organisation.-          Experience in budget preparation, financial and service planning, and monitoring mechanisms.-          To advise and motivate senior managers and finance staff, prioritising workloads effectively.
