Joseph Norton Academy is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our outstanding team. As an HLTA, you will play a key role in supporting the academic and personal development of our students, helping them to achieve their full potential. Working under the guidance of a teacher or phase lead, you will be integral in providing tailored support to children with complex Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the delivery of high-quality learning, encouraging student engagement and progress.
  • Build positive relationships with students, offering guidance, support, and encouragement.
  • Work closely with staff to create an inclusive, nurturing environment for all students.
  • Assist in developing and implementing personalised learning plans.
  • Contribute to the overall development and wellbeing of students, supporting their preparation for adulthood.

What We're Looking For:

  • Experience in supporting children, ideally in a special educational needs setting.
  • A strong understanding of social, emotional, and mental health challenges.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport with students and colleagues.
