Regional Transport Resource Manager

Huddersfield

£36,000 - £40,000

Monday – Friday, 09:00 – 5:30 (37.5 hours per week)

Are you an experienced resource manager with a passion for operational efficiency? A leading logistics company is seeking a dedicated Regional Transport Resource Manager to join their team. This role is crucial in ensuring that driver and vehicle resources are effectively allocated across terminals within the designated region.

The Candidate;

  • Previous experience of supervising or managing HGV drivers
  • Experience in resource management or relevant planning of HGV drivers
  • Proven experience engaging with drivers on a regular basis.
  • Knowledge of ATOSS is beneficial but not essential.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to multi-task and work under pressure.
  • Bulk liquid, tanker or ADR planning experience is desirable
  • Confident on the phone
  • Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
  • Competent decision making
  • Computer literate
  • Have a flexible and adaptable approach
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Previous experience of working within a busy fast paced transport office

Duties and Responsibilities;

  • Maintain short, medium, and long-term awareness of resource requirements, ensuring resource levels align with client demands.
  • Keep accurate records of resource allocation and provide regular updates to senior management on resource management performance.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of strategies to enhance resource utilisation.
  • Liaise daily with planners to adjust resources as needed, maximising efficiency while maintaining high levels of customer service.
  • Authorise all driver holiday and absence requests.
  • Work proactively to cover any driver resource shortfalls, initially through local overtime, followed by cross-contracting, agency booking, and subcontractor engagement.
  • Where required, engage with clients to provide updates on resource provision.
  • Develop strong working relationships with planners and drivers to optimise resource management.
  • Act as Duty Manager on a rota basis, overseeing operational issues and resolving resource shortfalls as they arise.
