Warehouse Supervisor

Duration - Temp - Perm or Perm

Hours: Monday to Friday 08:30am - 17:00pm 37.5 hours

Flexibility is essential for this position, which includes early starts and late finishes.

Purpose of the role:

Stafflex are looking for an effective Warehouse Supervisor to direct receiving, warehousing, and distribution operations with a dedicated focus on parcel lockers. You will oversee the efficient and safe receipt, storage, value-adding servicing, and dispatch of all parcel lockers.

You will have people management responsibilities and be actively involved in managing their activities and development programme. You will have ownership of managing processes and systems, in order to ensure goods are checked, inventories updated, and items are dispatched appropriately and productively in order to service the business efficiently.

There will be particular emphasis on aligning our data capture and reporting to the customers' requirements. Ultimately, you should be able to ensure productivity targets are achieved and that all Warehouse processes are running smoothly and promptly.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

General Duties - Warehouse

  • Initiate, coordinate and enforce optimal operational policies and procedures.
  • Oversee receiving, warehousing, distribution, and value-adding servicing operations of all parcel lockers.
  • Ensure efficient space utilization and set up. Ensure the warehouse team correctly designates goods, actively takes them to the appropriate holding area in a safe & productive manner.
  • Ensure the warehouse team report any defects for immediate attention and ensure all relevant paperwork to complete your duties is filed and kept in a safe place.
  • Adhere to all warehousing, handling, and shipping legislation requirements. Maintain standards of health and safety, hygiene, and security. Be proactive in creating a safe working environment by leading on the implementation of Health & Safety policy, systems & procedures ensuring all warehouse areas are maintained in a tidy and safe manner.
  • People management responsibilities to include work rotas, coaching and motivating the warehouse team, assigning tasks appropriately and appraise results.
  • Produce reports and statistics regularly and as required by management and the customer.

Knowledge, Skills and Attributes we are looking for:

  • Knowledge: proven supervisory experience in a small to medium warehouse environment including expertise in warehouse management procedures and best practice. Ability to implement process improvement initiatives.
  • Communication skills: can read, write, and speak English language at a level necessary for efficient performance. In addition, good communication skills to effectively follow written or verbal instructions
  • Interpersonal skills: providing support to within the organisation regarding any cleaning duties. It is important that they can establish and maintain effective working relationships with team members, co-workers, or clients.
  • Detail orientation: regarding warehouse key performance indicators (KPI) and accurate reporting.
  • Organizational skills: Ability to follow a schedule and adapt to changing schedules or routines.
  • Physical dexterity: The job has reduced physical involvement compared to other warehouse roles, with a focus on more office-based activities. However, basic manual handling will still be required as well as being able to oversee the warehouse floor which will involve periods of walking or standing.
  • Decision Making: strong leadership skills and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage staff decisively and towards strategic objectives set by the Operations Manager.
  • H&S - An understanding of H&S in the workplace and the responsibilities that are set out.
  • IT Knowledge: Hands on experience with Warehouse management software and databases.
