Engineering Manager (Structural)
Huddersfield, HD1 office based with home working on Fridays with some flexibility

The Role
As Engineering Manager (Structural), you’ll lead our design team, oversee workflows, and ensure all structural designs meet the latest codes and standards. Your role will be a mix of technical expertise, project management, and mentorship, making a real impact in both our team and the industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the design team, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Conduct quality assurance checks on all projects for technical accuracy and compliance.
- Mentor and support our engineers and design technicians.
- Review architectural drawings and prepare fee proposals.
- Respond to site queries and provide technical advice.
- Undertake site visits to assess structural requirements.
- Prepare structural calculations, survey reports, and detailed sketches/drawings.
- Conduct risk assessments and ensure compliance with CDM Regulations 2015.
- Engage with clients, contractors, and architects to build strong relationships.
- Identify and develop new business opportunities.

The Ideal Candidate
We’re looking for a driven and experienced Structural Engineer with strong leadership skills. If you’re passionate about innovation and thrive in a fast-paced environment, we’d love to hear from you! About you:
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in domestic, residential, and commercial sectors.
- Degree-qualified (B.Eng minimum) in Structural or Civil Engineering.
- Chartered membership with IStructE and/or ICE.
- Strong knowledge of Tekla Tedds, Tekla Structural Designer, AutoCAD, REVIT, and Microsoft Office (Bentley STAAD experience is a plus).
- Comprehensive understanding of British Standards and Eurocodes.
- Familiarity with Highways AIP process and basic drainage design.
- Solid grasp of CDM Regulations 2015 and health & safety requirements.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organisational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and adapt to evolving projects.
- A valid clean driving licence.
