Our Huddersfield manufacturing client are currently looking for a Materials Science Engineer with a November start for 24 months. You will utilise good knowledge of materials science and engineering principles and practices to identify and advance material solutions to achieve application, design, analysis, manufacturing and quality requirements.

The position works cross-functionally on projects that require material science guidance on topics such as material and process selection, failure analysis, material characterisation, and material and process expertise on questions pertaining to manufacturing and quality problems.

  • 3-5 years of experience in a similar role is required.
  • Candidates must have a Bachelors, Masters or PhD in Materials Science / Engineering or a relevant discipline.
  • A knowledge of materials science engineering simulation techniques. together with hydrogen-driven damage mechanics on metallic materials would be advantageous
  • You will be an enthusiastic Engineer with great communications skills who is able to think outside the box.

Responsibilities

  • Work with internal design teams to conduct materials laboratory work to determine if products meet their specification requirements.
  • Support supplier quality investigations and provide guidance, plan and carry out suitable test methods to determine root cause of potential issues.
  • Carry out failure analysis investigations on tested components.
  • Maintain and develop databases of materials test data.
  • Provide Materials Science and Engineering support to other Advanced Engineering (R&D) projects as requested.
