Industry: Containment Solutions for Pharmaceutical & Nuclear Industries

Our client provides a comprehensive range of containment solutions that operate under negative pressure HEPA filtered air to protect the operator from exposure to potent materials.
Having recently become part of a large American parent company, they are experiencing huge growth within our niche industry.
The Buyer will provide support and assistance to the Senior Buyer ensuring that all procurement is carried out in line with the needs of the business.
Responsibilities
• Ensure all raw material and components are bought in a timely and cost-effective manor for capital projects.
• Manage all purchase requisitions raised for capital equipment and aftermarket in line with company financial procedures, ensuring accuracy of outputs from the department.
• Expedite all outstanding purchase orders in respect to required schedules, notifying the Senior Buyer and relevant Project Manager where scheduled dates are at risk.
• Ensure all purchase orders are received and acknowledged by the relevant supplier and maintain accurate and up to date delivery dates within the ERP system.
• Negotiate with suppliers to establish cost savings through supplier agreements, schedules, rebates, discounts, etc.
• Develop proactive working relationships with suppliers to ensure deadlines are met.
• Liaise with suppliers to acquire certifications for all departments.
• Follow the NCR process when there is a non-conforming component to ensure we obtain a replacement or credit where required and work with the supplier to understand the root cause and corrective action.
• Evaluate and provide feedback on supplier performance levels against agreed delivery and quality targets (KPIs).
• Manage the stock control system ensuring that the company’s stock holding is adding value and correct stock levels are maintained.
• Work with the Senior Buyer to manage consignment stock contracts throughout the business.
• Work closely with the Stores, Fabrication and Assembly Team to ensure effective flow of products through the business.
• Assist with stock take.

The salary scale for this role is between £30,000 up to £32,000 dependent on experience and qualifications. Our standard working hours are 38.75 per week Mon to Fri

Requirements
• At least 3 years of experience in a Purchasing Role in an Engineering or Manufacturing environment.
• Experience of dealing with NCRs (non-conforming product)
• A full understanding of stock control and the importance of it.
• Have a keen eye for detail
• A strong character
• Confident in dealing with both internal and external stakeholders in person, over the phone and via email.
• A desire to drive and embrace change
